After 5 years of using my new boxed IO 360 M1B for a coffee table I unboxed it today and started getting it ready to mount. My question is about a port on top of the oil filter mount housing. What is this for? Maybe the oil temp sensor?
Also the oil to the cooler fitting was already installed. Is this normal?
Thanks in advance!

Yes - the large threaded hole on the top of the oil filter housing is for the temp sensor. Yes, the 45 deg fitting is installed for the cooler. The straight fitting is in the plans, but casting changes to the oil filter base would interfere. As a result, you will need a 45 deg fitting on the cooler, if you use the vans cooler. The 90 deg fitting on the cooler will render the standard vans hose too short. I just found these things this month. Lucky I had the extra 45.
