my ACK ELT works great but the red light on the remote switch (E-01/E-04) does not come on when the unit is activated. The buttons on the remote work just fine.

I figured the light was bad so I ordered a new one but it does the same thing, no red light but otherwise works fine.

anyone got any idea what might be going on here?

Have you installed the battery in the remote control panel and the audio alert module?

not sure what the "audio alert module" is, but, yes, there's a good (tested) battery in the E-01/E-04. That's the only thing that controls the ELT.

The audio module is required and is installed in the telephone cord in between the indicator and the ELT.

It's the little orange box to the right of the ELT and also has a lithium battery in it -

I'm assuming you have the later 406 version ELT.

As Gil said, the cockpit module needs a battery and it is NOT included in the box.
