Hello all,
I am finishing up elevator's. Plans call for countersinking E-702 so that it and E-709 can fit flush, allowing WD-605 to lay flat. This material is very thin, would be easy to countersink to much, would it be ok to just dimple these parts instead? Also, what is everbody using to put on stiffners before riveting to keep them from oil canning? Thanks in advance :)

That's what I did...

Brent,
Dimpling the 702 and 709 is exactly what I did and it works fine.

I didn't do anything special with the stiffeners until I riveted the skins to the skeleton. I put a dab of RTV on the trailing edge rivet. Just enough that when you close the skins, it will bond the top and bottom skins together. I have not had a problem with oil canning on the elevators. :)

Sounds like I am about 1 week ahead of you.:)
