I drilled the radius hole in the wrong spot on the first counterweight. Oops! I was thinking of pouring in lead and starting over but am concerned that it will either melt the surounding lead or not bond to the surounding lead.

Any thoughts?

Wobble a drill in the hole to make it larger on the bottom than the top. That will give you a mechanical bond. If the molton lead does melt some of the counterweight, it will form a bond just like soldering or welding. When casting bullets, I have to preheat the mold to get a good casting. Lead cools to a solid very rapidly.

Counterweight error

Hello,
I made an error while drilling the screw holes, inserted the counterweight upside down.
I just melted some lead and poured it in the hole, it bonded very well and I then could redrill the holes.

Here is a picture after redrilling the holes (the ribs in the back have been redone!!!!)

Thankx for the replies guys. Pascal, I looked at your site and it was helpful. I think I am going to try pouring new lead in the hole. I have not received a response from Vans.

Fill the hole but don't start over! - the counterweight for the trim tab side does not get cut down (yes I missed that detail on the plans & had to fix!).
