I’m working on my RV-14 elevators, page 09-08, Step 6. There is a zoomed in inset on Figure 3 showing the shear clip (E-1022) right next to the two close out bends on the top and bottom skin. Page 09-22 shows that the close out tabs and the shear clip get riveted together.

My issue is I have a 1/8” gap between the shear clip and the close out tabs. Did I bend the tabs in the wrong spot? Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I guess you just need to click submit on the new thread and sometimes you find the issue. I went back further and believe I drew my bend lines in the wrong location. I was supposed to draw it even with the end of the skin at the trailing edge and I think I drew it at the end of the relief radius.

Now the question is, what do I do? New skins?

Thanks,
Doug

Unfortunately you bent the skin at the wrong location. You can see the clip is inline with the trailing edge.

I did the same thing. Join the club. New skins were not that expensive.
