Electric flaps suddenly stopped working - but motor works ok with external voltage supply attached. -8A with three position center neutral switch. Anyone have the wiring diagram for this circuit? Don't have access to my build documents.

Unfortunately, only the builder can answer that question. No two builds are identical, especially with the electrical designed.

The good news is that flaps aren't too hard to troubleshoot.

  1. Check the breaker or fuse
  2. Do you have voltage at the flap motor when the switch is in the up or down position?
  3. Do you have voltage at the fuse or breaker?
  4. Test the power feeds (with the power off) to test for a short to ground. Something chaffed or cut through the insulation
  5. Trace the wires looking for an open circuit

Are you using a relay between the switch and motor? (should be)

If not, depending on your switch wiring, you may have exceeded the wire's capability to handle the load, which would melt said wire.

If there is a "standard" wiring method, this is it -
