Sandy sent a new instrument with the latest software so I could switch out of the previous unit that had some Subaru stuff in it, like the oil temp sensor software, which accommodates the short, one wire device. The one wire and two wire senders are not the same, they have much different internal resistance and the instrument has to be programmed for one or the other.

Anyway, she thought it would be a good idea to have an instrument loaded with all Lycoming software so we traded units. I checked the new unit with the Lycoming 2 wire sender in water that was at 200F (using a decent digital cooking thermometer). The EIS oil temp reading was also 200F.

Perfect, I would say. :)
