Just wondered if anyone had advice as to where to place the EGT probes on a Lycoming IO 360 M1B with Vetterman exhaust from Vans?
I'm using a Dynon 120 EMS and they only say 2 to 8 inches from the exhaust flange.....

3"...

Hi Dick,

I did this just the other day but I've yet to post the pictures on my build log. Anyways, I went with a "swept back" strategy at 3" below the flange.

My EFIS supplier, AFS, recommended 2"-6" with 3"-4" being "optimum". I had planned on 2" but discovered that 2" would have interfered with the bottom plug wires, so 3" it was.

Regards,

Thanks for the info.......looked at my exhaust and decided to go for around 3 inches.
Appreciate your help

EGT probe-ext-gage bench testing

Is the procedure the same as CHT testing? I managed to get a reading on CHT but I can not get any needle movement at EGT gage (Vans new) after heating the probe almost red hot. Am I doing something not quite right?
