While installing my sparkplugs I discovered my EGT probe was touching the sparkplug. Is there a simple fix to repair the old 1/8 inch hole or does it have to be welded ?

I recently added engine monitor with all 4 EGTs. My original #3 probe was not ideally placed. I simply took a stainless steel flathead screw, cut off the head, leaving about .050" below the head, placed it in the hole and put a stainless steel clamp over it.

Don't know who's probe you have but many can be bent to allow clearance. Give the manufacturer a call and see if it's OK to just bend the probe to get clearance to the plug.
The hose clamp and screw repair that Mel mentions is a common fix,m I have seen used successfully many times.
Good Luck,
Mahlon
