Good Day Folks,

I just got to the stage of deburring all the parts for the VS. I deburred the VS skin edges, but are we also supposed to round off the corners of the skins?

Cheers

Yes, very slightly. Round corners cause fewer wounds than sharp ones. Also, they hold paint much better.

All true. However, the main reason for deburring, rounding edges etc is to avoid stress raisers. Any sharp change in contour, hole or scratch causes the local stress to be very much higher than the average load/area. Particularly in materials prone to fatigue (such as T2024 Aluminium), this can lead to cracks and ultimate failure.
