I was doing a post oil change tidy up yesterday. Whilst cleaning the firewall, I bumped one of the main shunt lines and noticed that it moved. Upon further inspection I discovered that the two tiny screws that hold the shunt assembly to its insulator base had backed out leaving the assembly loose and supported solely by the cables themselves.

I took the whole assembly apart (cursing myself for not putting nutplates on the backside of the firewall) and reattached the bridge to the mount with the original screws plus sealant.

By luck I had mounted the shunt in a way that a loose bridge assembly would not be able to contact metal, but still not something one would want flopping around loose.

I would suggest to everyone with a similar part to check the integrity of the attachment on a regular basis.
