Gents,

Please look at the image attached. I was just starting the process of installing the Dynon AOA pitot tube and am on hold until I resolve this concern.

It appears that the forward 3/16" tube is inline with the forward screw boss location. I am very concerned that drilling and tapping the through hole for the boss will damage the 3/16" tube. Not to mention the screws possibly crushing the tube. It seems that possibly the tube was out of position when potted during manufacturing.

For those who have the Dynon AOA pitot tube that isn't installed yet would you please look at your tube and let me know if indeed the forward 3/16" tube is inline with the boss as well.

I did the same thing last week and had the same concern. Use a drill stop and set it to the correct depth. I set mine just short of the aluminum tube then finished the hole by hand.
 
Mine's the same way. I'm going to drill with a stop as well. I bought some 1/4" screws for attaching, so shouldn't even get through the boss.
