Mostly done with the big chore of wiring the panel on the RV8, but one question lingers. I wired the Dynon for the DB9 serial connection to allow software upgrades. I also need to connect the Dynon 180 to the SL30 using the RS 232 ports on the Dynon. Is it just as simple as joining the serial grounds as well as the EFIS Receive line to the SL30 Serial Transmit (or OUT) line? Or am I missing something big here?

Don't think you're missing anything. But I would suggest putting a switch in the Serial line so you can take the SL-30 out of the equation when you are updating the Dynon.

serial line switch

Thanks for the suggestion. I had actually thought that I would simply pull the SL30 out of the mount when an update was to be done on the Dynon. One less point of failure? but you also have to remember to unplug the SL30.
