I bought some 4092 camlocs from Spruce. I followed their selection instructions and as far as I can tell the winged studs, grommets and recepticals are compatible. However I can't get the stud through the grommet! The little pins on the end are too wide! I can't believe they would sell them with such an obvious problem so I am assuming that I am intellectually challenged and the solution is right under my nose and I just can't see it. When you are finished laughing at me please tell me what I am doing wrong!

on my skybolt kit, I got the tool that compresses the spring all the way and it goes in easy. I tried doing it with out the tool and I couldn't get it in.

Not a dumb question

Scott, I had the same question. But, I got someone to compress the springs with needle nose pliers and the grommet slides right on.

Going to fire up the tig and make the tool. I feel slightly less stupid now

Thank you all

I use my Cleco pliers to compress the spring on the Cam Lock studs and then angle the stud pins through the grommet.
