Just finished drilling the gear attach brackets. Next step is to drill the four 1/4" holes (two on each side) thru the gear weldments into the inboard wear plates. Most logs indicated this is done by laying on your back under the fuse and drilling upward. Does anyone see a problem with a slightly different approach?

1) remove gear, then bolt inboard bracket and wear plate in position
2) flip fuselage
3) drill holes from a more comfortable and stable position

Thanks in advance,

I mounted my gear with the fuselage inverted at the canoe stage, then removed it to complete work on the top of the fuselage. Went well...

Ron, thanks--did you drill the holes thru the gear weldments while the fuse was still inverted or did you drill them after flipping fuse?
