This idea may have been posted before, so sorry if I am quoting something already suggested 
The plans call to drill the T712 attach brackets. I came up with a simple and inexpensive drill stop, using a piece of 1/4" od 3003 tube:
The 3003 is soft enough to not damage the 2024 that the tank baffle is made from.
