I'm almost at the point of attaching my elevators to the HS. What are people using as a drill guide to drill thru the hinge bracket to the elevator horn?

I mentioned it to a friend and the next time I saw him he handed me a guide. He chucked up a grade 8 bolt of the correct diameter in his lathe and cut of the head, drilled a 3/32 hole in the center and then cut it off about an inch or so long. I haven't used it yet but it fits well and the 3/32 bit just slides through. A few more friends like that would be nice. :)

I was going to order from McMAster-Carr as that was what I saw several builders recommend. But I like this approach better. :D

Hobby shops often have thin wall brass tubing in various sizes that make good drill guides, get 3 or 4 sizes that can be stacked together.

I used nested brass tubes as well. Worked fine & can be had at hobby or hardware stores.
