I have a Garmin 196 that I would like to download Topo Canada maps onto or at least a topo map of BC.I'm an idiot when it comes to computers and such ,so can someone tell me if this possible and if so what I need and how to do it.

I'm like you, not much computer savy. I have a 396 and my buddy downloaded the local Topo maps in mine. If no one adds on here I try and remember to get him to log on and tell you what he did.
