Doug, if you delete this, I will hunt you down and cripple your typing fingers.

OK CAMPERS,

Airventure would not be the same without having Doug to report on all matters RV. In addition, we need him there for consultation and general abuse.

Whether or not he wants to go, please consider this post as a grassroots draft (or better yet, a subpoena) commanding him to lay all other business aside and appear at Airventure in Oshkosh Wisconsin on the 29th day of July, 2008, to remain at said locale until (at least) the 2nd day of August, 2008. Mr. Reeves is also commanded to show cause why he should not remain at Airventure throughout the duration of that program, to report on RV related matters to his constituency and to suffer various forms of questioning and abuse.

Today, I am placing a check in the mail in the amount of $100.00, made payable to Doug Reeves, fearless leader, to help defray the travel expenses necessary for him to comply with the above-referenced subpoena. I am sending this check to P. O. Box 270321, Flower Mound, TX 75027 [as a side note: Doug, you really need a more virile sounding address. Really, "Flower Mound" ? What's the matter, was "Pantie Waist" already taken for Texas cities?] I feel certain that my brother and sister RVers will feel similarly motivated.


[ed. Thanks Steve! I'll try to get up there....please don't feel the need to send any more than the yearly $25. Everyone has to buy a car every few years and ours just gave up the ghost at an inopportune time. No biggie.

Another option-----

I can think of another way to help, as there are some who just dont have the resources to contribute $$$$

A open seat to Osh,---surely someone from Texas is going to Osh, extra room/bed/etc. would help lower total cost for our "Fearless Leader" (Dont think he is fearless???------would YOU have posted a photo of yourself on a pink Vespa???)

I will have no trouble getting Doug a ride to and from.
Doug we just need you to say you will take a ride and we will make it so.
I know of many planes going over your head on the way to Osh. I could even hook you up with some formating the weekend before with us at KSQI. That would be fun for you to come hang with us.

My wife and I are big Dave Ramsey fans and it has changed our lives, but I agree with others it would be great to see you at Osh Doug.

In response to Mike S suggestion... and in support of the work and contributions our Fearless Leader provides not only to the RV community but to charity and the community at large, Doug now has a room available at no charge. This offer is from Bruce Bohannon (Flyin' Tiger) and his support team, and it's in a beautiful home about 5 miles from the field. It's not a tent in the middle of a bunch of RVs (obviously the best accommodations), but it's the best we could do on short notice.

Oh man, what do I even say!

Please don't send me that much money!!!! $25 a year is all I can ask, and I feel a little uneasy even asking for that.

So let me see if I have this straight....while Susie and I drive down to the Volvo place to bring our sick car back home with plans of cleaning it up and putting it on eBay, several of my online friends start throwing offers of free lodging, SWA passes and Benjamins in my face?!? I am absolutely floored, and humbled, and honored and a thousand more emotions.

Let me get back to you on this, as I have a couple of weeks to work it out. I may take that SWA pass, rent a car for a few days and drive the 3hrs to OSH. May ride with a friend. May lodge where offered, throw a few T-shirts in my backpack with the laptop and camera and just do it. Let me study it...

I can't put into words how honored I am to be associated with this caliber of people. Please!!!, just $25 is fine - regular old donation. Everyone has to buy a car every few years and ours just gave up the ghost at an inopportune time. No biggie.

Darn! you guys beat me to it!

While I'm trying to make a living it pops into my head to do what Steve Ashby did do. Then, I see I'm late to the party. So, I'll throw in $100 also. That way, the next I approach Doug's tent at Osh and holler "Is Doug Reeves here?" I can hear him say (like last time) "Do I owe somebody money?":D

Seriously, Doug you have to be there and, in/on/under/beside your plane, on the field. I total up $400 so far on this thread. By the time you need to go we'll have the whole trip covered and you can bring the yoga instructor too.

Doug: If you don't find a place to stay you are welcome at our home in Shorewood for the whole time. I'll be driving or flying up Sun, Mon, Tues and possibly Fri. Bill

If you decide to drive somehow and still want to see the Air Force Museum, consider stopping in Cincinnati. I'll personally escort you there( as I love to go there), and you can overnight at my place.

Steve and I are flying up Sun and his wife has bugged out this year so he may have an open seat, I'm sure he would love to have you and I guess I could put up with you :D

Doug it gets real lonly around Dallas Ft Worth the week of Oshkosh.
You need to fly Flash. I will buy you a tank of gas on the way up AND on the return . You can fly with Danny King and me. You are out of excuses.
I bet someone will pay your OSH camping fee too. Who is in?

Yearly $25 is fine...

I really, really do appreciate the surge in donations, in light of our Volvo giving up the ghost a couple days ago. If you are sending in money, all I ask is that you consider it to be your yearly donation of $25. If you are kind enough to send $100, and I'm not going to tell you not to, at least count that as a 4-year donation.
