I've enjoyed every aspect of the RV9 build up to this point, but as many have stated in the past, the wing rib prep is very tiring. I'm too far into it to turn back, but I wondered how many of us would gladly pay a responsible, detail oriented kid big money to prep the ribs. I know I would seriously consider it when I get to my next build. Sound like a good summer job for your kid? I bet there would be some takers.

Maybe I'm not the craftsman I should be, but according to my build log about three hours were spent straightening the flanges and giving the ribs a going over with a scotchbrite wheel in a die grinder.

The real builders (early RV-4) had to cut the lightening holes in the ribs!

Deburring the holes in the wing skins consisted of a couple of swipes with a maroon Scotchbrite pad to knock off any, er, burrs.....

Anyway, the RV-6 has provided sixteen years of trouble-free service.
