Very cool time of the build, the first join!

Everything about the lower longerons looks spot on to me, but for one thing.

See red arrow, it looks like there should be a gap, but is this the normal amount?

Everywhere else it lined up flush

I think that’s about how mine looks. But I’m out of town right now.

One thing yo can try is to cleco on the skin panel to some of the pre punched holes in the mlg tower and see how that rivet line falls. Mark where the pre punched holes land on the longeron compared to the pre drilled holes on the weldment. If you match drill through the skin and weldment, will the rivet have edge distance on the longeron?

When fitting the longerons I used small clamps and using the wing nut style of cleco to create more pulling force to hole the longerons tight.
You are still at the beginning at this stage. There will be more sheet metals that overlay this section. Before drilling too much, follow the instructions to build up this section

I built a -4, and there were several areas where that situation occurs. Mand builders tweak the angle or just clamp up the gap. Being a structures specialist on heavy jets for years, I have a large collection of tapered shim stock we used for that on the Boeings and Busses. Your close by me if you'd like to come get some..I'm up at 8A7. Are you at Miller Airpark in Mooresville by chance?

What I would say is what’s echoed above. Before doing anything get to the point of putting the side skin on. The skin includes indexing tabs that fit flush to the vertex of the lower longeron. These tabs align the rivet holes correctly along the lower longeron For you to match drill.
I had a couple of rivet holes on one side that didn’t line up with the weldment when drilled to #30, but were close enough for the miss alignment to be corrected when drilled for the screws.
It seems in your photos that the gap maybe a little too big, but you will know more when you put the skin on.
