Have a DigiTrak autopilot in an RV7. Fine on the outbound leg, but after sitting in the sun for an hour - the return leg, it goes bonkers. Turns to the left, jitters, won't stay on heading.

Any suggestions ?

Overheating ?

Confused !

To late to be of any use to you, but I believe the voltage regulator in the servo (i.e. the metal box on the side of the servo) has a thermal shutdown feature. So when it gets too hot, the servo doesn't work properly. I had similar issues; resolved by thermal insulation of the space where the servo is mounted, and improved cooling airflow.
