Hi all,

I'm about to rivet on the aileron attach brackets. My plan was to spray them with NAPA 7220 self etching primer before assembling them.

My question is about if this will interfere with the painting process later. If I prime these pieces now, would I just paint right over them later with the top coats?

Or is it better to not prime them now, and prime/paint them with the entire wing?

Thanks for advice!

Prime

Prime them now on all surfaces before riveting. You will be able to top coat over.
If you have a conflict with the epoxy primer when painting your plane and the self etch Nappa, you can easily remove the primer with lacquer thiner.
It's best to prime all mating surfaces on these parts before they go together.
In my opinion SEM is a much better primer than Nappa. I have used bother and the Nappa does not bond as well.
