Had a brief interesting conversation with a Lycoming Rep at the AOPA conference today. I asked him how long they were going to drag around a POC "heavy fuel" engine, and when were they actually going to start producing them. He said it wouldn't be until a major aircraft manufacturer signed up to use them. I asked what stage in their development they were - and he made it sound like it is a program that is pretty much ready to fly. He said they have produced several - which all currently have a "whole lot" of hours on them. But it makes no sense financially for them to tool up a production line until they have a significant buy-in from a major. So - those of you -10 builders who are exploring engine options... I wouldn't be holding out for this one at this point...

Unless Cessna, with their next generation aircraft, decide to really break out...
