I have an older RV 6 Kit.
While preparing to assemble the Wheels found the Axle threads damaged.
They are 1 1/4 " X 16 pitch.
I could not find a die anywhere locally to chase the threads.
I contacted Langair Machining the supplier for the gear legs.
They promtly, at no charge sent me a kit including the shipping.
What a great company.
They also have a program to straighten bent gear legs

I agree with Dan on the thread file. Chasing with a die could do more damage if you cross thread it over the damaged threads. Using a thread file on the first two or three flights will correct them and then use a thread chaser die to clean up the rest.
