After building the wing rack for my quickbuild wings and placing them in the rack, I noticed the following damage to the plate on the back of the rear spar. It looks like it is from a drill bit. The deepest gouge looks to be no more than 10 to 12 thousandths.

I have sent the pictures and my questions to Van's, but wanted to get some feedback here as well.

Can I grind this down with a roloc wheel and smooth with sandpaper? Or should the plate be drilled out and replaced? I'm not sure if you could use solid rivets if the plate needs to be replaced without drilling out the inboard part of the inboard bottom wing skin for access. :( I come from twenty years of flying Pitts and Extras, so I do plan on regular aerobatics in the plane.

thanks,
Damon
