I am considering adding lights to my day
VFR RV-3. Removing the painted in wing tips
Is not an option as the rivets are all filled flush and nicely painted.

I think I can figure out how to attach Nav/strobes to the wing
Tips.

Has anyone installed a Duckworks landing light in the leading edge
Without removing the wing tip? Dimpling the skin to receive the flush
#6 screws for the lens without damaging the paint may also be an issue. Any thoughts
On this task?

We did it

Yes it is possible, by working thru the hole for the old wingtip lights and the access plates under the wing it was possible in our RV7a. Not simple but possible.

And yes, dimpling the painted finish did damage the paint but only in the dimple, we touched it up and it looks OK. Do not make the mistake of painting the screws, they look much better if left in Stainless.
