Hi All

Adding an IFD540 to my panel soon and looking for tips on cutting the hold in the secondary bulkhead behind the panel (RV-7A Slider) for the long tray.

Why re-invent the wheel with all the smart folks on here... right?

I plan on four holes in the corners, but then a saw? Nibbler? Anything better?

Thought about clamping a piece of wood in there to dampen vibrations if I go the saw route.

Thanks in advance-

10 years ago I used a nibbler which sprayed tiny chunks of metal everywhere.

Today I'd use an OMT -- oscillating multi tool with a curved-tooth bimetal blade. And definitely drill holes in the corners first.

This style blade: https://www.amazon.com/Bosch-OSL114F-3-Starlock-Oscillating-Bi-Metal/dp/B01DDA7VU0
Or this one: https://www.amazon.com/Bosch-OSL312T-Starlock-Oscillating-Segmented/dp/B01DDA7VV4

We called a Multi tool a "Wig-Wag" in the plumbing business, and the best blades you can buy are Diablo Carbide:

Something fine toothed makes the smoothest cuts.

Used my Dremel. It's my first choice for most things, but I'm a dentist, so I'm biased!
