Know this is an ongoing discussion. I would like to operate at RV4,6,7, out of a 1400 strip grass runway at 6900 feet elevation in SW Colorado. Would you even think about A6A or 7A. What about the engine HP. Will a 180 HP work on density alt. of 10K? Open to advice. John Patton <[email protected]
Thanks.

Just do a search on ANY post by "L.Adamson", you will get an answer.

Sorry Larry, I just had to post that. :D

No problem............I'm always right about this subject. :D

And I certainly agree with the first answer presented in this thread. :)

Yeah C/S and JATO. I think the ink on my performance chart would get pretty blurry from all my sweat trying to make the calculation on that one. Might as well add "and I need to clear a 50' obstacle" That would make it even more fun.

For this location, CS would be a must IMHO!

Amen to that!

A 1400' sod strip can be a challenge at SL with a cross wind, at 6900' it is way outside the envelope. Especially if there are trees around the airport.

A Super Cub with a CS 180 HP set up probably can do the job if this is an absolute must do situation.
