Greetings,

I need to remove one lug from my crank flange to drill the bolt holes for mounting the LSE pickup. I have never seen this done and am loooking for the best way with no special tools.

I see one lug with a shorter shoulder that would be free quickly. I am thinking of a stack of washers around the back of the lug with a smaller washer on top and a 7/16 bolt into the rear to act as a puller of sorts.

Tim,

I used an over-sized socket around the lug and a fender washer and just pull it out with the bolt as you described. Not that difficult at all as I recall.

Make sure that your lugs are all standard size. They do come in oversize dimensions, and a lug will be marked on the back if oversize.

If you need different bushings, call your nearest large engine rebuilder. They usually save ones from scrapped crankshafts and will have many used ones for sale.
