Wondering if anyone can shed some wisdom on this subject. I haven't found any threads on it yet. RV-4 IO-360 1990 build

My upper cowling is starting to detach on one side. Basically it is pulling foward, gradually unzipping the piano hinge that attaches it to the upper firewall. By unzipping, I mean the two sides of the hinge are pulling apart--so it's not an attachment problem--but rather some kind of stress on that point of the attachment that's causing the hinge to fail. The other hinges are fine. I didn't build this airplane, so my best guess is that the cowling isn't quite square against firewall. Any other ideas, before I repair it? I don't want to go to the trouble uneless I've mitigated the problem(s).

Thanks,
Chris
