Doctoring up the snorkel and have a question for you guys. First of all this is what I've got. Fuel injected, forward facing, smooth cowl, IO-360.

My snorkel FAB comes close to the cowl right below the alternator mount just as it makes the bend up towards the left inlet. Dead center of the cowl about 10 inches below the spinner opening. Im not woried about the startup and shutdown shake as this is mainly rotational in nature. I am concerned however with the load placed under G in the downward direction. How much clearance do you think I need between the snorkel and the cowl?

Thanks in advance.

Marc,

I have exactly the same situation with my RV8. With engine sag under g and aero loads pushing the bottom of the cowl up, I'd figure on 1/2" minimum.
