The RV-7QB roll bar and associated tubes are powder coated on the exterior. However, inside the tubes appears to be bare shiny metal. Anybody coating these with primer? Seems difficult without messing up the powder coating. I heard a suggestion to simply coat with oil.

I'd be more concerned with airframe & control surface structural issues than the rollbar. Move on.

Oil... hot day... oil starts creeping out onto your paint and into the interior of the plane... messy.
