I was wondering if anyone has made a chart of handy conversions. For example a #30 drills a hole for a 4 size rivet and any other necessary items like this.

Thanks,

Jim

Cleveland Aircraft Tools has a nice two page foldout chart in their printed catalog. You could probably contact them and request a catalog or just one of the conversion charts as I think they usually enclose one when you order something from them.

Interesting. I just ordered tools from them and their catalog didn't have this. Could anyone scan what they have?

Thanks,

Jim

You can make your own and keep it handy via incorporation into your drill storage.

Drill jig image. scroll down a bit on this page

Use a drill the next size up for each drill you want to store. (loose hole)

I have plenty of drill guides but the special aircraft stuff does not really fit (like ones with drill stops and the 8' long one for instance).

I made the above drill guide out of a piece of hardwood and marked the sizes. At the time this image was taken, that is all that was written.
But, to your point, by the time I finished the plane, the screw size was also written by each drill as a handy reminder.

The guide continued to grow with the addition of all my gun sets.

Yes, I had a handy pocket chart from Starrett or somebody but that was used very infrequently.
