I am mating the vertical tail to my RV8 today and noticed that some manufacturers of aircraft offset the vertical tail to compensate for torque in cruise flight. The RV8 is aligned with the fusealge. Is the engine mount canted to offset for torque in cruise flight in this airplane? Forgive me these engineering things escape me.

I recently mounted the VS on my -7. It has an offset if built per the plans. here is a pic showing approximate offset from centerline.

Use the offset

We used the factory supplied offset attach plate from the -7 on our -6A and it flies hands/feet off and straight. It looks about near 1/4" joggle....the piece that attaches the front spar of the VS to the HS,

Since you didn't get any other replies from "8" guys....;)

Mount it the way the plans say - the offset is in the engine mount - you'll be happy!

This is one place where 7's and 8's are different. Your 8 doesn't have the offset in the vertical stab like the 7s do. As Paul said, It's all in the motor mount. Just follow the plans.
