One was built for private use and is registered the same as mine as a Special Category Amateur Built Aircraft. This is like the GA category and is where you would register a homebuilt aircraft such as all the other RV's.

The other RV12 was built as a micro light. This was a school project supervised by Jim. That plane is now leased to the local aero club for flight instruction. Jim is supervising a second school built RV12 at the moment.

The person in charge of building the S-LSA planes in the US, Wally I think, visited Jim recently to discuss what they would need to change in their set up in the US to enable them to bring the S-LSA into NZ. The big concern for NZ conditions is the priming of the aircraft.

I think as mentioned above cost might be an issue. Certainly you might enjoy circuit flying at about a 9 litres per hour.
