Ever since getting my -9 flying again with the new engine I?ve been struggling with the Comm radio. It would receive great but ATC kept telling me I wasn?t very legible. I tried in vain to fix the problem then yesterday, while flying with Radomir (RV-7A builder and now F33 owner) he suggested I try taking my deburring tool the screw holes.

This morning, I got to the airport, slid under the plane, and removed the first screw. Sure enough, there was some oxidation on the aluminum Comant antenna base. Two quick turns with the deburring tool, some dielectric grease in each hole, and I was ready for a test flight.

Later in the day I flew out for lunch with some other planes and was told the radio was loud and clear from up to forty miles away.

I?ll call that problem solved.

No problem Tom, happy to have the company.

Thanks to this forum, I have a solution to the volume issue.

Hey, I'm waiting to see the pictures you took of Alex's Cozy.
