Last flight, I noticed that 1 cylinder's CHT was all over the place. Rapidly going up and down. The EGT on same cylinder was rock solid and never varied. All other cylinders were steady on cht/egt temps. No difference on engine performance. As I was landing, probe showed cylinder cooling and on taxi, the temp was in line with the other cylinders.

My thought is a probe going bad, loose probe, or loose connection. For all I know, it could be a fluke and a one time event. However, as this is a one time event, I'm just guessing at this point.

Anybody seen this before?

What engine monitor are you using?

I saw this exact same thing on my Dynon. I swapped the probe with one on another cylinder and the problem followed the probe. I bought a new probe and the problem was solved.

I agree, it sounds like a probe or wire problem. Try swapping it out with another cylinder and see if the problem follows the probe.

OK, so Jamie types faster than I do!

Saw the same thing, tracked it down to a leaking valve cover gasket, that led to oil getting in the insulated "fast on connections".
