So I have been having fun learning how to do carbon fiber, making new intersection fairings and looking to do more with it. I plan to redo my panel in the near future. I figure since I'm going to have to start from scratch either way why not make it out of carbon fiber and have it look good and hopefully a bit less weight. since the RV4 is flat with a stiffener lip on the bottom should be quite simple. My question to all of the carbon fiber Gurus on here is how many layers thick should I make it? I have been watching tons of videos, and plan to vacuum bag it to make as strong and light as possible. do you think 4 layers will be strong enough or should I go 6? I will be installing GRT glass and removing vacuum system so transponder and GPS will be heaviest stuff mounted to it, instead of all those heavy gyros.
Thanks in advance for help
