My engine has 5/16-18 carb studs. The parts manual shows the attach hardware to be plain flat washers, plain nuts, and palnuts. What's a palnut? Should I use something else instead?

The current hardware is a nut, flat washer and a star washer. Palnuts have not been used in years on Lycoming engines.
Good Luck,

In lieu of a star lock washer, if the stud is long enough (as it is on my -8), a MS35338 split helical lock washer can also be used. The star washers must be discarded and a new one used if the nut is ever removed. The split helical washers can be used again. YMMV

My engine came with an363-518 nuts holding the FI servo.

They are hard to find, I found out.

GAHCO shows them in their catalog.

Star washer setup ala Mahlon's post is easy to do, and works.

I've got a big bag of star washers from spruce, so I'll probably go that route. Thanks for the help!
