ridiculous question time. I'm working on the canopy rib assembly. Section 29, Page 6, Step 6...

Step 6 says to final drill with #17 (.173") (i only have a #16 (.177")..cuz #17 wasn''t listed as a tool needed in the revised chapter 3).. Ok #16 is slightly bigger.. close enough for what we're trying to accomplish here i guess.

it goes on to say .. "..then dimple the nutplate screw holes".

what dimple die to i want to use for a #17 hole (.177")? The #8 (.16") dimple die? I'm assuming so..but just making sure there isnt a die i dont have.

Van's answer:

Proto shop says the pre-punched #19 holes were prone to cracking when dimpled.. so they specified to open them up to a #17 size.

If you don't have a #17, something slightly bigger up to a 3/16" is OK.

However, since the #16 was listed in the Required Tools section.. I had that and am using that until I receive a #17 from Brown Tools (and a #20 and #43 which apparently I didn't buy last year in my initial tool order).
