My -6A has an engine that is getting on in time, about 1900hrs. Since the oil consumption has been getting higher, I thought I'd go ahead and grab a borescope to see what the inside is looking like. I'm a bit perplexed by the appearance of the cylinder walls in all of the cylinders - they have a scaly appearance that I have not encountered in what I have read about borescope analysis. Does anyone know what this is?
These are "chrome" cylinders that replaced the originals about 600 hours ago.
Three of the four cylinders also had a noticeable amount of oil in them (i.e. more than just a thin film). This is about an hour after shutting down from a long flight. Is this normal or anything to be noticeably concerned about?
