For those of you using the Bogart Tow Bar on a tail dragger, what have you done with the split pin and castle nut on the tail wheel?

The tow bar does not slip over this area and thus there is very little for it to grip onto, so I am concerned that it will pull away if not properly engaged?

Cheers
Eddie

Cotter pin?

I mashed the cotter pin down just enough for the bogart socket to fit over the castle nut and cotter pin. I've seen others that are "mashed" also. Been working well for over 400hrs.

I agree with Steve. Mash the loop end of cotter pin down and the tow bar fits perfectly and won't come off. I really like mine for it's weight and convenience.

My hangar mate squeezed his cotter pin enough that it allows the Bogert to clear it. He also replaced his axle bolt with one 1/8" longer and stacked a couple of washers under the head. That gives more for the Bogert to grab on the head side of the bolt.
