I used nutplates and screws spaced about every 4" to join the front and rear halves of my wheel pants. Since the bottom two screws are angled towards the ground and next to the edge, they are very difficult to remove.

Whenever I'm removing or replacing the front wheel pants, I'm always wondering if there isn't a simpler way to join the front half to the back.

Here's my idea... let me know what you think:

I'd like to use some kind of clip or other method to secure the front half onto the back and have it held fairly securely using this method alone. For a bit of additional security, one screw could be used on the outside middle and then the two screws on the inside into the wheel pant bracket should be all it takes to hold the front half in place. (the back half would be secured normally into the bracket using screws)

It seems that a few metal "fingers" fastened to the front half around the edge could hook over a lip created in the back half of the wheel pants, holding the pieces together where they overlap.

Has anyone ever seen or used something similar for their wheel pants?
