Well, I just found out that the standard alternator that came with my Lycoming 0-360 will not fit in the RV8 cowl. What is the best alternator to purchase that will fit the cowl? Does anybody have one they want to sell? Thanks, Tom

I have a brand new never installed 60 amp Air-Tec Alternator I would sell for $200 (http://www.airtecinc.us/) . I am going with a 40 amp allt and it should be no problem fitting your cowl. I can give you the dimensions. E-mail me if interested. Thanks. Dave [email protected]

I stopped by my local starter/alternator rebuild shop. He had a rebuilt Nippon/Denso from a Toyota forklift that he claimed was good for 50+ Amps. It's small--appears about the size of Van's. Took a chance and paid 100 bucks for it. Still working fine on my -8 after 125hrs. Be sure to get the electrical plug that fits the socket on the back of the alternator.
