I replaced my Bendix mags on my RV-4 O-320. I have a potential buyer for the Bendix's but have no idea of their value. They worked fine and include harnesses.

What would be a fair asking price? Don't want to scare off the buyer but don't want to give them away either.

Did a quick search on Barnstormers but didn't come up with anything.

Thanks

Go to someplace that sells them and see what the core value is for your particular mag. They ought to be worth at least that much. A quick check at Chief Aircraft says $150 ea.

mags

Buying Bendix mags sight unseen is a real gamble. Spruce core charge is $190. If the mag has a blue tag, it was at one time Bendix reman. Red tag I believe is factory new. There are still at least a few old mags out there with bad gears and coils. These, in my opinion, are worth core value at most. Prices on ebay are all over the place. A serious seller should be willing to split the mag and try to identify whether the coil is a good late manuf coil. The gear is easy, if its micarta-no good, nylon good. You should be able to see the gear looking thru the timing hole. If I were trying to sell mags I would list the drive gears separately. Even if a mag is yellow tagged, I would be skeptical unless this was done by a reputable shop. There are shops- Trade A Plane, etc that specialise in mags and have been around forever. I would consider a mag from one of these shops the equivalent of factory reman.

I'll likely just ask for core value even though they worked fine. I got Slicks for $1100 so if I get $350 for these my expenditure for new mags is only a total of $750. I can live with that.:D

I don't have them in front of me so not sure which gears you mean but they came off the plane complete so whatever the slicks didn't require is still on them.

Thanks for the input.
