Just a quick question,

I'm busy with the flaps and I need to bend FL-706B to 6.3 degrees.

I tried putting in the bench vice, on the bend line, and pulling on it with my hands to no avail... How do you guys bend it with only garage tools available?

How do you make sure it ends up to 6.3 degrees? mark it out on a piece of paper and continue trial and error until it is right?

Thanks in advance...
Regards
Rudi

Use a Hammer

Van's says to put it in a vice, and whack it with a plastic mallet. Worked for me on other parts. We didn't need to do this on the 8.

I put mine in a vise and whacked it with a dead-blow rubber hammer until it fit properly. It didn't take much. I wouldn't be too concerned about the 6.3 degrees. Just whack it until it fits. :)

Ditto

Use large rubber mallet and go slow. You can pound it back if you go a little over. It is not hard to do, but handling the plate is not like 0.032 aluminum. Beat on it a little it will move. Don't be shy. George

Line the jaws of your vise with some scrap alum. and you won't get a "crease" at the bend line.

Cheap, soft commercial alum. works well for this lining...

Tooling marks are still a bad thing, even on thick alumuminum parts...
