A picture always seems helpful in understanding. I installed a Bell tail wheel fork on my RV-8 recently. After searching the forum for various opinions about using the standard bolt/nut as supplied with a tow-bar, I made a change to have something a bit longer to attach the tow-bar to. Mr. Bell,Sr. sold me two additional spacers and provided me with info on the #46 bolt to purchase. The #46 bolt was way too long, but once I had the additional spacers in hand, I made some measurements and felt the #44 would be the correct size. Here are photos of the standard setup and the extended setup. Hope this helps someone else with questions. BTW, my hangar mate uses the standard setup without any problems.....so as they say......YMMV.

Tow bar

I did this and used the "Cessna Deluxe Tow Bar" from ACS.
I believe there may be a picture of this in one of my old posts.
