I have installed the left bell crank bolt through the brass bushing and torqued the nylon locking nut but seem to have only one thread protruding past the nylon.

What is normal?

I am thinking that I could sand down the brass bushing length a small amount and the bell crank tabs would flex in a little allowing more thread to protrude.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Check out Advisory Circular 43.13. It says one thread protruding is acceptable. That said, I used a thin washer (AN960-10L) there to get about 1.5 threads protruding.
