Before installing the transponder I noticed that there are 3 punched/dimpled nutplate holes that were not filled directly below the transponder. Called four other builders and they did not have the nutplates installed at this location. The plans DO NOT specify installing them (as of today).

Called Van's and the three nutplates are required for the throttle/choke/cabin heat controls/cables.

Install a dimpled AN3/10-32 nutplate at these three locations using the small SS pulled rivets before installing the avionics.

Do it now, before installing the avionics, otherwise the radios will have to come out later down the road.

Missing nutplates

Thanks Marty for the heads up.

It is not necessary to remove the com radio and transponder trays to retrofit the three #10 platenuts if the avionics kit has been installed.

It took me less than 15 minutes to put the nutplates in. Of course don't have the radios in the trays when you're doing it.
